Night remained day with the illumination of the moon at full. Shadows danced upon the hatch covers, outweighed by the glimmering reflection upon the seas. As we spin upon our axis, the inevitable lightening of the horizon begins, bringing a soft hue of pinkish-orange with it. Mountainous tufts begin to darken, losing their glow from the moon’s glittering light, now showing the density of water held within themselves. A small shower escapes the mass of nimbostratus, recirculating the ocean. Strips of altostratus reign in the background bathed by the ever increasing brightness of the sun. The world seems to come alive as a pair of gannets soar past the bridge wing enroute for the bow, their hunting grounds. Off the beam another vessel slides along the horizon, a motionless silhouette almost matching speeds. The upper winds are increasing as the altostratus begin streaking into dances of cirrus. We leave only a minor disturbance in our wake, turbulence soon to settle as we all move through this day of life.
As evening nears, the gloom of the day is illuminated by the piercing flame which has conquered the final stretch between cloud and horizon. A charcoal band of dense stratus is forgotten as the gap begins to alter hue, illuminating from its full form with the bath of energy from the sun which has remained hidden for hours. In that final stretch before departing for the evening, the sun reclaims its title as ruler of the day with the projected bath of glimmering orange. The hue is so intense that words could not possible replica the occurrence. Within moments the apex of the sun drops out of the clouds as the base has already departed the day, gradually retracting its might on departure. There only remains a slight tinge of the iridescent blend of red/orange/purple to acknowledge the experience. Limbo hangs as the night and day change guard, soon the stars shall rule the sky.
